Radical women of the East End walking tour
Sunday 17 June, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm£9
Retrace the steps of the radical women of the East End on a walking tour through Bow and the surrounding area.
The tour will begin with the Bryant and May matchwomen, who organised a strike in 1888.
You will then wander through the stomping ground of Sylvia Pankhurst, who established the Suffragette East London Federation here, campaigning for the women to vote and for their social and economic freedom.
Walkers will also learn about Minnie Lansbury, who died in Bow after a heroic fight for justice for its working class residents. The clock on Bow Road was erected in her memory.
Your tour guide for the day will be Oonagh Gay, a qualified Clerkenwell and Islington guide and member of the guiding group, East End on Foot.
Walks can only be attended by pre-booking.
