Parade for Women Work
Tuesday 17 July, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Join the Women Work Parade, to celebrate women working as earners, leaders, homemakers, carers and volunteers.
Women contribute to an overall average of 60% more unpaid work than men, yet this is often not accounted for in how we rate success or value work.
Women, men, children, young and old, go and join Public Works in their Women Work parade to discuss what constitutes work and challenges current values of success.
They will parade from the Roman road in Bow to Here East in the Olympic Park, visiting Butley Court Orchard, paying homage to the Suffragettes headquarters beside Lord Morpeth pub, they will dance and DIY on the way past the Victorian Clarnico Factory in Hackney Wick where the work force were mostly women, all led by the School 21 community choir.
They will leave behind poems, conversations and words on their path. If you can’t join them on the day follow them on social media and snapchat.
Work is work.
