Zoe Gower-Jones photography exhibition at Muxima
Friday 13 July, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - Monday 13 August, 2018 @ 8:00 pmFree
Zoë Gower-Jones showcases the results of her ambitious year-long portrait photography project, ‘Can I take your picture’, at Muxima throughout July.
When she started ‘Can I Take Your Picture 365’, her mission was to photograph a stranger every single day and, in the process, unearth the stories of the Londoners she passes on the streets every day.
The project began on 1 January 2017 and is a visual list of all the eccentric, colourful and interesting characters you come across in the East End. ‘It’s interesting doing it on my doorstep. I think Roman Road is really an interesting place to be doing a project like this. It definitely feels like the East End here and everyone really is so friendly,’ says Gower-Jones.
The results of her visual storytelling are brimming with character. They truly reflect London’s diversity and show an energy to our bustling city that challenges any notion of anonymity and unfriendliness.
Pop by Muxima throughout July and you’ll see the faces of the characters she encountered across her year of discovery – and almost certainly recognise some Roman Road locals.
