Mette Ingvartsen, Danish dancer and choreographer, explores the speed and energy of movement on wheels in the UK premiere and opening night of Skatepark at Sadlers Wells East on 10 April 2024.
Skatepark is a group performance including skaters and dancers, marking the emergence of a community defined by persistence and hard work. The group try and fall together, pushing the limits of what’s possible.
During the prelude, an East End skate community will showcase their skills on the ramp.
Ingvartsen’s work engages in extending choreographic practices by combining dance and movement with other domains such as visual art, technology and language. She has also adjudicated awards such as the Salavisa European Dance Award.
Situated in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Sadlers Wells East will open in February 2025. It will form part of the East Bank, the newest cultural and educational quarter in London. The opening season will feature over 20 productions ranging from ballet to hip hop, to dance theatre, vogue and Bharatanatyam.
The new space will house a 550-seat theatre, a choreographic centre, a hip-hop theatre academy and a flexible auditorium that will transform into various settings providing an immersive experience.
Doors open for Skatepark at 7.30 pm on Thursday 10 April 2025 and will run till Saturday 12 April 2025.
