The opening night of Traplord from award-winning dance artist Ivan Michael Blackstock is on Wednesday 28 May 2025 at Sadlers Wells East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Traplord is a dance performance that meditates on life, death, and rebirth. Through theatre and spoken word, it confronts raw and challenging themes of mental health, masculinity and the stereotyping of Black men in contemporary Western society.
Blackstock is an independent artist who focuses on creating thought-provoking and political artistic expressions and won the 2023 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.
Situated in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Sadlers Wells East will open in February 2025. It will form part of the East Bank, the cultural and educational quarter in East London. The opening season will feature over 20 productions ranging from ballet to hip hop, to dance theatre, vogue and Bharatanatyam.
The new space will house a 550-seat theatre, a choreographic centre, a hip-hop theatre academy and a flexible auditorium that will transform into various settings providing an immersive experience.
Traplord is a Sadler’s Wells co-production.
Doors will open for Traplord at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 28 May 2025 and will run till Saturday 31 May at Sadlers Wells East.
