Job description

Artsadmin is looking for a leader who has a clear vision, a unique way of seeing the world, can work collaboratively, and has experience of supporting or producing artists to create their work. They will represent the organisation at all levels and in a range of environments and must hold a strong commitment to Artsadmin’s organisational values including anti-racism and inclusion.
The ideal candidate could have a background as an experienced creative producer who brings a strong reputation in the cultural sector, or have experience of leading a varied performing arts programme.
The Artistic Director will lead on setting the creative vision and ambition for Artsadmin. The role is the focal point for decision-making around Artsadmin’s programme, working alongside the entire team to ensure the organisation’s artistic ambitions can be achieved and our values are upheld in how we work with our partners, participants and audiences. Taking a long view approach to our commitments to social justice and climate justice, the Artistic Director looks for opportunities to develop a range of projects and partnerships within our home at Toynbee Studios, hyperlocally, nationally and internationally. They will also advocate for sustainability and responses to climate change within the arts.
Together with the Executive Director, they will share joint responsibility for Artsadmin’s long-term organisational resilience. As part of this they will develop, deliver and monitor Artsadmin’s Business Plan, initiate and maintain relationships with key partners, stakeholders and funders including Arts Council England and oversee the development and implementation of Artsadmin’s fundraising and communications.
Interested applicants can have a confidential conversation about the advertised role prior to applying and we particularly encourage people who are thinking they could do it, but are not sure, to have that initial conversation. This could be with our anti-racism recruitment consultant Jenny Williams, the Chair of the Board Jeremy Smeeth, the existing directors, or another colleague.
Interviews will be held w/c 13 Nov and w/c 27 Nov, with dates announced on 2 October.
