Here East goes green… Meet the new fleet of fully electric shuttle buses!
The new shuttle buses are named Ken, Edith, Alice, and Maria. The choice of names reflects the contributions of a variety of people who have furthered the world of science and tech. For example, Ken is named after Japanese engineering technologist and businessman, Ken Kutaragi, who is known as “The Father of the PlayStation”, as he oversaw the development of the original console and its successors. Edith is named after inventor and engineer, Edith Clarke. Clarke was the first woman to earn an electrical engineering degree in 1919 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the top academic institutions in the world.
The shuttle bus service is free for the Here East community and event attendees, and takes people to and from Stratford and Here East. It operates Monday to Friday, 7am to 11pm.
Here East is a dedicated campus in Hackney Wick focused on education and innovation. BT Sport, UCL and Loughborough University London are just some of the businesses and organisations that call this slice of Hackney Wick home.
