A project run by Alexandra Rose Charity, named ‘Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project’ will launch from Tuesday 31 May. The project will provide vouchers for families with young children under five, that can be exchanged for fruit and vegetables.
Public fundraising allowed this project to happen, where £60,567 was raised by locals in just one week. It is the eighth project launched by Alexandra Rose Charity. The scheme hopes to bring peace to parents, knowing their children will have a balanced, healthy diet.
Jonathan Pauling, Chief Executive at Alexandra Rose Charity said: ‘We’re delighted to be launching our eighth Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project in Tower Hamlets. Improving access to healthy food is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve the population’s health. The Rose Vouchers will help increase accessibility to fresh fruit and veg for young families and support them in giving their children the best possible start in life. This is more crucial than ever as many are families are struggling to make ends meet as the price of food continues to rise’.
Given the current cost of living crisis, this is a great step, in supporting local families in Tower Hamlets.
