Purple Palm Yoga
I'm a passionate yoga teacher based South East, first turned to making out of necessity when I needed lavender eye pillows for relaxation in class, but found none of decent quality. So I started making my own with homegrown lavender and fabrics I'd collected on my world travels. Currently I hand make funky yoga mat bags using ethically sourced and often up-cycled fabrics. As well as lavender eye pillows made with 100% cotton and filled with fresh Lewisham lavender flowers that I grow myself. Meditation cushions and bolsters. Also pretty fabric covered A5 notebooks or yoga journals.
I’ve lived as a local mum in the East End for close to 10 years. I was born in Malaysia but grew up in gourmet-loving Australia. My parents are from Penang Island, so I grew up eating a wide variety of foods from the many regional influences of Malaysia. I was keen to discover the techniques of preparing Malaysian cuisine, having spent many hours helping my parents in the kitchen from a very young age. I immersed myself in the subtle and intricate nature of Malaysian cooking.
All my products are upcycled and handmade in Bow. I re- use clothes and create unique and sustainable pieces in a new context. In order to ensure that my products meet the needs of both children and adults, sourcing the right materials and transparency in manufacture are the key. When applying patches to my re- designed pieces, I rely on cork, a sustainable and vegan alternative to leather. I also offering an upcycling service that creates bespoke kidswear out of those clothes that their parents have stopped wearing - Daddy’s old shirt becomes his son’s new pair of trousers, mum’s cardigan turns into a hat, and the new pieces carry their very special own story.
I am a full time mum to twin girls. I've always loved making and sewing, and found that I was inspired to get out my sewing machine again when they were born, making them blankets, clothing and accessories.I make clothing, accessories and homewares for children and babies. I use fun, bright and good quality materials and aim to make beautifully designed, practical products. My current range includes blankets, quilts, bibs, bloomers, skirts, and headpieces.
