The RRRBA needs your help to protect the retail space at Royal Deluxe Dry Cleaners, 418 Roman Road.
Number 418 Roman Road, currently Royal Deluxe Dry Cleaners, is part of a Victorian terrace of shops with a much sought-after historic shopfront in a busy part of Roman Road. We receive an increasing amount of requests for premises of this type, size and location from new businesses wanting to open on Roman Road.
However this application seeks to build a studio flat on the ground floor of the shop meaning it would lose about 35% of its floorspace and 25% of it shop frontage and become unviable for many new businesses.
Help us object to the loss of one of our prime retail units. Please copy and paste the letter below into an email to the following address, remembering to CC us so that we can record the number of objections submitted.
I would like to OBJECT to application PA/15/00095 for reduction in retail floorspace at 418 Roman Road.
This application would result in an unacceptable loss of 35% of the retail floorspace by 35% as well as 25% of its retail street frontage. This would have an unacceptable detrimental impact on the vitality and viability of the designated Roman Road East District Town Centre and undermine the Council’s town centre hierarchy, contrary to the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework (2012), policy 2.15 of the London Plan (2011), policy SP01 of the Core Strategy (2010) and policy DM1 of the Managing Development Document (2013). These policies seek to safeguard and enhance the vitality and viability of town centres by protecting and promoting commercial uses, and place town centres at the heart of local communities. In particular, policy SP01(4) seeks to maintain, focus and increase the supply of retail floorspace in Roman Road and policy DM1(7) seeks to ensure adequate servicing arrangements as well as adequate depth and width of retail units.
For these reasons, I request that you REFUSE this applications
