The Roman Road LDN website, it’s social media platforms, the Roman Road Yard Market, the Roman Road Neighbourhood Plan and the Roman Road Festival as well as other community events, are organised by the Roman Road Trust CIC, a community development organisation that works to keep community at the heart of regeneration.
Roman Road Trust is a non-for-profit organisation run mostly by a team of volunteers. We could not have achieved all that we have done without the support from our sponsors and community partners who share our vision and commitment to healthy communities. These include:
London Borough of Tower Hamlets
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is a London borough to the east of the City of London and north of the River Thames. It is in the eastern part of London and covers much of the traditional East End. It also includes much of the redeveloped Docklands region of London, including West India Docks and Canary Wharf. Many of the tallest buildings in London occupy the centre of the Isle of Dogs in the south of the borough. A part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is in Tower Hamlets. The borough has a population of 272,890, which includes one of the highest ethnic minority populations in the country and has an established British Bangladeshis business and residential community The local authority is Tower Hamlets London Borough Council.
Canary Wharf Group Plc
Canary Wharf Group has already achieved one of the greatest ever feats of civic engineering, turning a once derelict Docklands into 97 acres of London’s, and the world’s, most sought after office and retail space. As a fully integrated property development, investment, and management group, it has the experience and the reach to control and steer any project, of any size, from concept past completion. In two decades, the group has not only transformed Canary Wharf into 16 million square feet of superior office, retail and leisure space, but it has also been called on to spread its expertise in tall building design across London. Canary Wharf’s 37 completed buildings create an instantly recognisable Inner London skyline attracting some of the world’s greatest companies.

Back in 2002, Groove Armada and our own Jools were sitting in a pub, lamenting the London parties scene. They were playing gigs and clubs everywhere, but thought there might be a way to put on a different kind of show in London, with more exciting line-ups.
It started with a box of records and a pack of Post-its – heart-shaped ones were the only type to hand. The record box became the ‘Lovebox’, which became an album, and then the first party was thrown in an old strip club off Tottenham Court Road. Then followed a residency at 93 Feet East, succeeded by a stint in Ladbroke Grove, and Lovebox was selling out two weeks in advance with hundreds turning up at the door.
A year later, this success led to a one day special on Clapham Common for 10,000 people. The year after was 20,000. A combination of solid musical reputation and a complete lack of inner London park festivals proved a potent recipe. Then in 2005, Lovebox moved to Victoria Park, spread itself over two days and the festival you know was born.
