Come along to Poplar Union’s mending class with Joyce. You will learn basic skills, how to thread a sewing machine and master basic stitches.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn essential sewing skills, starting with the fundamentals of operating a sewing machine, including proper threading techniques and mastering various basic stitches. These foundational skills will enable you to repair and extend the life of your clothes, helping you create a more sustainable wardrobe.

Throughout the class, you will develop practical techniques for darning worn fabric, creating professional-looking hems, and properly attaching buttons – all valuable skills that will help you breathe new life into your favourite garments and rejuvenate your wardrobe.
