Event description
Nazia Preema’s exhibition, Self-Love, is coming to the Brady Arts Centre from Saturday 8 April – Friday 28 April, with a preview, performance and book launch on Thursday 6 April from 6-8pm.
One of Bangladesh’s most dynamic and inspiring contemporary artists, Preema received her Masters in ‘Drawing and Painting’ from the University of Dhaka in 2000 and has since received global recognition for her conceptual dexterity and her prolific and high-calibre output.
Her work explores issues of women’s representation that fuses traditional and digital techniques. She creates poetic visual metaphors on canvas. Bold and innovative, her output celebrates both beauty and freedom for women, incorporating new media such as performance, video installation and digital art.
In this exhibition, Nazia Andaleeb Preema is representing herself as the mirror of others in our society, where we are all engrossed in self-love. The truth is most of us are narcissists. However from another perspective, it is evident that it is “we”, ourselves who make the biggest difference in our journey, so we better love who we are! Because You, as much as anybody in the universe, deserve your love and affection the most.
