Event description
The People’s Pavilion explores the impact of co-design with young people. This two-day design workshop is for Tower Hamlets residents aged 14-19 and participants have the chance of winning a trip to the Venice Biennial.
By taking part in this weekend workshop, you can expect to gain architectural, design and communication skills and gain access to a full programme of free skills workshops during the Easter holidays.
The schedule includes the following:
On Saturday participants will work with the People’s Pavilion’s architecture and engineer team to learn how to create a concept design. There will be the chance to make models of the designs, to sketch plans and to learn about sustainable design. Q&As will be held throughout the day.
On Sunday participants will have to pitch their design ideas. The morning will consist of work with Fourth Monkey Actor Training Company to develop communication skills ready to pitch the design concepts. In the afternoon participants will get time to review their designs within their teams before pitching to the judging panel.
A panel of professional judges will select a design team from each of the East London boroughs (seven teams in total) and those teams will be invited to develop their design ideas further.
All shortlisted designs will be shown at a public exhibition on London’s Here East Campus which sits within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
