Join the UK’s finest poets, thinkers, and musicians, who will provide a diverse, chilled ambience.
We’re thrilled to announce that Writing Our Legacy is bringing the popular cabaret night Poetry Room to St Margaret’s House, Bethnal Green on Sunday 11 May.
The night will feature poetry talent straight from Sussex: Roy McFarlane FRSL will give a talk on Poetry as a Witness and read from his work. We’ll also welcome back Gnawa master Simo Lagnawi who we invited to perform in Brighton before his meteoric rise to fame as the ambassador of Moroccan culture in London, and the fabulous Sonia Quintero, queer Colombian–British poet and founder of Newham Poetry Group, who will read from her poetry.
As always, expect a live DJ set from African Night Fever boss DJ Fever2Ray, dialogue between the audience and our artists with MC Akila Richards at the helm, books for sale, a pay bar and a friendly crowd to set the vibe.
