Event description
Textile Exhibition and Free Workshops at the Art Pavilion Mile End for the 3rd year running.
PRISM Textiles, a group of international textile artists returns to the Art Pavilion for a third year with their latest exhibition Warped, from 20 April to 1 May 2023.
If you think the world has already been turned on its axis in recent years, be prepared for things the get “curiouser and curiouser” as over 50 artists present their interpretation of the word warped.
The work on show covers a wide range of intertwining themes, from gastropods to dysfunctional relationships and alongside the more usual fabric and thread expect to see found objects and more unusual materials such as porcelain, jesmonite, driftwood, sea threads and metal bolts all skilfully woven together to create contemporary pieces of textile art.
PRISM members will also be offering free workshops throughout the exhibition to encourage visitors and get the local community involved. They will be sharing insights into how their pieces have been created, while teaching skills from making art from found objects to stitched stories.
Visitors who came to the previous PRISM exhibition held here last April left comments such as “I very much enjoyed being taken on a journey though stitch, powerful concepts, beauty, harshness, pain and back to softness”
“ A wonderful thought provoking exhibition featuring much talent”
“ Fantastic variety and standard (as usual!)
“ Wonderful exhibition. Prism always delivers excellence”
