Kitchen Porter & Prep Assistant at Flat Earth Pizza

We are taking on an important role at Flat Earth Pizzas in Bethnal Green. You’ll play a crucial role in making our restaurant run smoothly – it’s a valuable job, involving food hygiene, being part of the kitchen staff team, and basic food preparation is also part of the Kitchen Porter job description.

You’ll be learning some basic food preparation that can help you work your way up to being a chef one day.

As a support to our chefs, your duties will include:

-Essential cleaning duties, such as dishes, pots, pans, equipment, and utensils,
-Cleaning and sanitising, before and after use, of all food preparation areas, including cookers, hobs, surfaces, and kitchen floors after shifts.
-Cleaning and ensuring food mixers and other food preparation utensils and machines are fully functioning and clean
-Sweeping and mopping to ensure the floors, kitchen, and food storage areas are clean, neat, tidy, and hygienic
-Washing dishes, especially if they’re needed quickly, or washing them in a machine and ensuring they’re clean, dried, and ready for the next day
-Washing other utensils and kitchen essentials, such as knives and chopping boards
-Keeping refrigerators and freezers clean, organised, and tidy
-Emptying bins and recycling into larger, external bins for collection
-Basic food preparation as required by pizza chefs, such as chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting dough for shaping
-Deep clean duties within the kitchen such as walls, shelving, floor corners, dishwasher and other high, low-level cleaning tasks.
-Lifting and carrying flour bags (16kg) tins (by case) and some other large items.

About you:

-Strong attention to detail and efficient
-A hard worker with a willingness to learn
-Experience working within hospitality as a KP
-Upbeat and friendly
-An interest in cooking (at home)
-Shift flexibility to include days, evenings and weekends.
-Aged 18+ due to the nature of the business
