Job description
We are seeking an experienced and energetic participatory arts professional to join the Arts and Wellbeing team (Director, Producer and Coordinator) who collectively design, manage and deliver St Margaret’s House’s extensive arts and wellbeing programme. This is a new role starting in late September/early October 2025.
You will join an ambitious, values-led organisation with a dynamic multidisciplinary staff and volunteer team, all supported by a motivated and engaged Board of Trustees.
St Margaret’s House has a broad remit: an arts and wellbeing programme of creative health activities rooted in social change, a busy vegan cafe, a thriving charity shop and multiple properties where other organisations provide their own services to support our community. SMH’s Participation Manager will have the opportunity to contribute to all areas of the charity’s activity.
St Margaret’s House is looking for someone: with a strong background in participation, who is passionate about working with people of all ages from our East London community; who has a strong track record of engaging people who might not normally consider taking part in arts or wellbeing activities; and who is eager to advocate for the benefits of creative health for all.
About Organisation
St Margaret’s House: a home for Creative Health
St Margaret’s House (SMH) is a community Arts and Wellbeing Centre in Bethnal Green. Established in 1889, we have a long history of serving our local community through a variety of different chapters. Most recently, since April 2023, we have received annual funding from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation to continue to deliver our Creative Health Tree approach.
We’re a site with lots of different venues: The Gallery Cafe, Ayoka Charity Boutique, a beautiful garden, offices for 30 tenant organisations and practitioners, and event and workshop spaces that are available to hire.
We believe in the transformative power of the arts and community connection to impact people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing.
