Friends of Bethnal Green Gardens have been working hard to make the Gardens more beautiful over Christmas and New Year.
Dedicated local residents have planted the, once neglected, war memorial next to Bethnal Green Library with red and white flowers. Sadly, today war is not only an experience of the past, for many people around the world and in Bethnal Green it’s an experience of the present.
By planting the war memorial with flowers, the group is honouring the pain felt by so many people – and bringing life and beauty to a neglected part of historic Bethnal Green Gardens. It’s a Christmas present to the whole neighbourhood.
The group runs regular litter picking events, occasional planting events, promotes education about the amazing history of the Gardens and advocates for a happy, healthy, safe Gardens for all the community.
