Description
Come along to a community-led festival of health, healing, movement-building, arts and culture, held in Tower Hamlets. Healing Justice London and Kin Structures – two organisations working towards community health, healing, creativity and transformation – will be holding a month-long festival, with over 80 events and 100 panellists and facilitators.
Between 11 October and 11 November, the festival will hold multiple events per week at the Soanes Centre in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. Events will include pottery workshops; basket-weaving workshops; nature workshops; Tai Chi workshops; and sessions on the importance of trade unions; on mental health and madness; on neighbourhood community-building; on masculinity; and on radical Black imagination. Each session will explore at least one of four key themes: safety, dignity, belonging, and life.
The festival’s title draws on the US activist-scholar Ruth Wilson Gilmore’s provocation to “rehearse the social order coming into being” in order to build futures free from oppression. Other events will be taking place in Block 336 in Brixton, and Avalon Café in Bermondsey.
The Soanes Centre can be found at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Southern Grove, London E3 4PX.
