Out now! Tower Hamlets Slice’s spring/summer print edition is landing on doorsteps this week
Tower Hamlets Slice’s eighth print edition celebrates the East End’s rich food heritage and is packed with ideas on how to get the most out of your borough this spring and summer.
The spring/summer edition goes behind the scenes of some of our greatest food institutions, including the dynasty behind The Beigel Shop, a homage to Billingsgate Fish Market, the first ever fish and chip shop in the country, and the burgeoning new food and drink scene on Cambridge Heath Road.
‘’I’ve been looking forward to publishing a food special for ages!” says Editor-in-chief Tabitha Stapely. “When I moved to Tower Hamlets 25 years ago, I was blown away by the incredible food from our diverse communities right on our doorstep. It’s still the star attraction for me, but we also have some exciting new contenders. What I love about Tower Hamlets is that most of our eateries are still run by small families bringing their cultural cuisines to diners, and not themed restaurants dreamt up by corporates with no connection to the borough.’
In addition, this issue reports on the Slice’s investigation into the overnight cut by the Council to the borough’s food hubs, threatening food security. You’ll also find a guide to the best events in the borough this spring and summer, a review of the top news stories that you need to know about in Tower Hamlets, and our regular This is Home column featuring a woman in Stepney, a Uyghur who hails from Ürümqi in China.
Ten thousand free copies of The Slice Tower Hamlets are being distributed around the borough right now – find your local stockist here.
