Surreal Science exhibition of scientific objects

This vibrant exhibition at Whitechapel Gallery features a carefully chosen selection of objects crafted from unexpected materials, collected by Dutch art collector George Loudon. These include lost-wax casts, minerals, velvet, ivory and glass as well as prints, books, drawings and anatomical specimens like taxidermied animals to bisected human skulls. Sweat Fest display of sweets

Sweet Feast at Whitechapel Gallery is an exhibition showcasing a new film by Ulla von Brandenburg recreating an event from 1973, when 500 children visited the gallery to learn about sweets as popular art, but devoured all the displays instead. The exhibition consisted of enticing display of confectionery including Belgian chocolate coins, French lollipops shaped as the Eiffel Tower, gummy mice from Germany, coffee-flavoured Hopjes from Holland, Italian marzipan fruits, salty liquorice from Denmark, Irish mints and toffee from Yorkshire.…

Four Corners is hosting a free exhibition of unseen photographs by suffragette Norah Smyth. The photographs return to London's East End after 100 years. These photographs provide a remarkable document of Sylvia Pankhurst’s East London Federation of the Suffragettes, and an extraordinary moment in women’s social history during the First World War. They are generously loaned by the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, alongside other archival material.
