The Grok, the Glunk and the Golem
An exploration of “Artificial Intelligence” and language, as depicted in fiction through the ages.
Every Thursday at 7.30pm, Shawm Kreitzman introduces and presents a free film screening, held at the Victoria Park Baptist Church on Grove Road.
Our current series explores the cultural roots of so-called “Large Language Models” (ChatBots such as ChatGPT, Grok etc) and connects them to earlier ideas of artificial intelligence; from Frankenstein’s monster to the Golem and even the clockwork automata of the 17th Century.
All of our film screenings are completely free, and open to everyone (although please note that some films might be unsuitable for children; check our website for details about the upcoming screening).
Coffee, cake etc. will be available!
(Doors open at 7.00pm)
Do come along; everyone is welcome!

1 Review on “The Illusion of Depth at Victoria Baptist Church, Bow”
Just a word about the very enjoyable “Illusion of Depth” free film screenings on Thursday evenings at Victoria Park Baptist Church, Grove Road, E3. Films usually “vintage”, some famous, others not so well known, but all of interest. Introduced by film buff Shawm Kreitzmann, who shares his wide knowledge about the films, their history and social background. Great outings for those interested in film.
