Community Sauna Baths launches massive fundraiser to secure lease and expand operations

Community Sauna Baths, which has locations in Hackney and Stratford, has launched a £230,000 fundraiser with raffle prizes and discounted sessions.

Community Sauna Baths has launched an ambitious £230k fundraiser which will run until October 1 2025, in order to secure a lease, update its current locations, and expand its existing accessible sauna programmes.

Open since 2021, Community Sauna Baths is popular for its authentic wood stove saunas, cold plunges and affordable pricing. The non-profit promotes the health and community benefits of a traditional communal sauna experience.

Community Sauna Baths runs five saunas across London, including the popular flagship at 80 Eastway (aka The Bath House) in Hackney Wick and a newer Stratford location. To make the service accessible, it offers concession pricing, discounted community sessions and a social prescribing programme.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards essential repairs at the flagship location in Hackney Wick, which are needed to secure a lease agreement with the Council after the owners of the building, Civic State Ltd, were served an eviction notice following rent arrears.

The money will also be used to invest in infrastructure across several sites, and to expand the social prescribing programme, including free community sessions.

The fundraiser offers a wide range of rewards to donors, including bulk discounted sauna sessions and a wide range of raffle prizes donated by local businesses. Raffle prizes include yoga sessions, meals at restaurants, massage sessions, haircuts and more, with prizes still being added.

The fundraiser at the Community Sauna Baths is running from August 1 to October 1. To donate, stock up on sauna trips or enter the raffle, click here.
