Event description
The renowned international PRISM Textiles Group returns to the Art Pavilion in Mile End with their latest exhibition, Untold, from 6 to 18 April.
With more than 50 artists taking part, the work on show covers a wide range of themes, from dementia and osteoporosis to folklore and family history. Alongside the more usual fabric and thread are found objects and unusual materials, such as tree trunks, straw, feathers, and bones, skilfully intertwined to create contemporary pieces of textile art.
PRISM members will also be offering free workshops throughout the exhibition to encourage visitors and get the local community involved. They will be sharing insights into how their pieces have been created, while teaching skills from needle felting to stitch.
The full list of workshops is as follows:
7 April: Felt puppet with Willeke Klaassen (11am-1pm)
Sashiko embroidery with Nerissa Cargill-Thompson (2-4pm)
12 April: Embroidered organza picture with Marian Murphy (2-4pm)
14 April: Needle felted and embroidered picture with Julieanne Long (2-4pm)
17 April: Hand-stitching workshop with Wolfgang Woerner (2-4pm)
There’s no need to book your place, just come along to the workshops at the Art Pavilion.
