A teenager has died, and another has been seriously wounded, during a disturbance in Bow in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Met Police was called to a fight involving a large number of people at Lichfield Road shortly after midnight.
Two males were taken to hospital with knife wounds. One of the males, who is believed to be aged 17, was pronounced dead at just before 2am on Sunday 4 September. The second male, who is believed to be 18, remains in critical condition.
The Met said an investigation was under way but no arrests had been made.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers of the Met’s specialist crime command is leading the investigation and said: ‘This is a highly worrying incident that has left one young man dead and another fighting for his life in hospital.’
He added: ‘My thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends at this difficult time.’
Rogers urged anyone who may have information that could help with the investigation to come forward.
