Profile
As part of the ongoing Grow At Home programme of online talks with local artists, Grow welcomes artist and musician Pete Bennett for a talk and interactive Q&A afterwards.
Bennett’s paintings and drawings are known for being ‘simple gifts that can be at turns beautiful, ugly and indifferent.’ But Bennett has more than one talent.
Stevie Chick from The Quietus remembers Bennett’s time as a musician: ‘Since the 1990s, Pete has fronted Monkey Island, the London-based garage-rockers whose fractured riffage and venomous lyricism may not have won them much in the way of material reward, but who remain one of the greatest groups I have ever seen.’
We can’t wait for this!

As a not-for-profit media organisation using journalism to strengthen communities, we have not put our digital content behind a paywall or membership scheme as we think the benefits of an independent, local publication should be available to everyone living in our area.
If a fraction of the local 40,000 residents donated two pounds a month to Roman Road LDN it would be enough for our editorial team to serve the area full time and be beholden only to the community. A pound at a time, we believe we can get there.
