Bow was the headquarters of the East London Federation of the Suffragettes (ELFS), led by Sylvia Pankhurst, daughter of Emmeline and sister of Christobel, also both prominent suffragette leaders. She was a prominent campaigner of women’s rights, particularly those of working-class women.
Join ‘Bring Your Baby’ on Monday 8 November for a guided walk that will trace much of Sylvia Pankhurst’s life while she lived and campaigned in the East End.
The walk starts outside Bow Road underground station at 10.30am. At around 11.30am, there’ll be a stop for coffee/tea/food at The Nunnery Cafe. The walk ends outside The Lord Morpeth pub, 402 Old Ford Road, E3 5NR.
