Job description
The Barbican is planning a major exhibition of one of the most influential American artists working today which is due to open in June 2023. They are looking for a Curator to provide maternity cover and then to work collaboratively with the Curator on their return from maternity leave until the exhibition opens. They are ideally looking for a Curator with a good knowledge of contemporary African American art, photography and feminist practices.
This role will be specifically covering the final months of developing and delivering a solo show by a major female artist. The role will mainly focus on the realisation and delivery, with a strong emphasis on project management and team coordination, with some curatorial work to be conducted in conversation with the artist involving planning, interpretation, editorial coordination and public programme.
We are looking for someone with an established and well received track record of leading and managing a team and delivering exhibitions. You will have a love of working with artists, impressive communication and organisational skills along with the commitment and drive to deliver outstanding projects.

Job Type: Fixed Term contract (maternity cover to end of June 2023), Full-time
Salary: £40,750 – £46,150 per annum, inclusive of Inner London Weighting (dependent on skills and experience)
