Roman Road Borrow-a-Bag scheme launch event

Roman Road Borrow-a-bag scheme

Roman Road Borrow-a-Bag is launching on Wednesday 16 October, marking the occasion with a celebratory event at the Cranbrook Community Centre.

Plastic Free Roman Road, Tower Hamlets Council, and Sunny Jar Eco Hub have collaborated to create the Borrow-a-Bag Scheme, the first of its kind in Tower Hamlets. When it launches, people will be able to borrow a reusable fabric bag if they have forgotten their own rather than use a plastic bag.

The reusable bags in the project have all been made with donated materials and tote bags, and are branded with logos designed by local schoolchildren. Over 300 people have helped the project get this far, with local businesses keen to sign up.

The launch event is a chance to learn more about the project, how you can get involved, and learn more about the push for sustainability in E3. Food surplus social enterprise Day Old Eats will be catering for the event.
