Event description
Visit Wilton’s Musical Hall this January to experience George Orwell’s barnyard brought to vivid life with the use of only a bale of hay, a bowler hat, a whip, some amazing homemade animal sound effects and an extraordinarily bravura physical performance.
In turns comical, powerful and tragic, all the animals are superbly conjured and the allegory is perfectly conveyed in a manner to be enjoyed by all ages. As we find ourselves in extraordinary times once again, (and with a General Election looming), sleaze, spin and ‘alternative facts’ will no doubt dominate the headlines, Orwell’s message of betrayed idealism has rarely been as topical and poignant. This is topical theatre at its best.
Adapted and performed by Olivier winner Guy Masterson, and directed by Tony Boncza, this production is not one to miss.
