Professor Emma Griffin explores how ordinary people lived, worked and struggled to survive in Barnardo’s East End.
Emma Griffin is the President of the Royal Historical Society and Professor of Modern History at Queen Mary, University of London. She is the author of five books, most recently Bread Winner: An Intimate History of the Victorian Economy (Yale University Press, 2020), and is currently writing a global history of industrialisation for Penguin Press.
