Event description
As part of Barts Hospital’s 900th anniversary celebrations, Barts Heritage is hosting an evening dedicated to the poetry of Sir John Betjeman at the hospital’s very own Great Hall.
The former Poet Laureate Betjeman was a regular visitor to the wards at St Barts. The Venerable David Meara, author of A Passion for Places: England through the Eyes of John Betjeman, will speak on the subject and read select works, including one which Betjeman wrote while waiting to see his consultant at Barts.
There will also be a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of Barts’ 900th Anniversary Poetry Competition.
Live music, drinks and canapés are to accompany the event.
Entry is free but reservations must be made.
