The Cherry Orchard at The Yard

An adaption of Chekhov’s play about wealth, class, freedom, status and, ultimately, the decline of the aristocracy, The Yard’s adaption takes place in a rickety starship that is travelling through space.

Adpated by British Indian screenwriter Vinay Patel, he has reimagined and updated the play for 2022. In this updated version, an old starship travels through space, searching for a home that is billions of miles from earth. Spotting a habitable zone, some of the crew want to jump off the ship and leave, while others are not so sure. With some of the crew getting restless, something has to change. Will they leap into a new future, or stay stuck on this journey forever?

The play is running from 5 September until 22 October, with a Matinee Performance every Saturday at 3pm. Prices are £12 per ticket but will increase as the theatre fills.
