Event description
Tired of staring at the same old Christmas decorations? Feeling festive and creative? Come along to Barge East and make your own set of bright, bold and beautiful baubles to hang on your tree, or gift to friends or family.
You’ll be shown how to create stunning, one-of-a-kind decorations through marbling; a technique in which ink is dripped onto a water surface, creating unpredictable patterns which are then transferred to your ceramic baubles by dipping and twirling.
Artist Dan Whiteson will guide you through the process with demonstrations and one-to-one guidance and support, so no previous experience is necessary.
You’ll have the opportunity to create a set of 6 ceramic baubles, but if you finish early you’ll also be able to decorate some cards to match too. All materials will be provided, so all you need to bring is yourself and a healthy dose of Christmas creativity.
Whilst the class is two hours long to allow as much drying time as possible, likely, the baubles will still be wet when you leave the venue. You will be provided with a carry case to minimise any smudging or damage to the surface. Do also be aware that marbling is super fun, but has the potential to get a bit messy. You will be provided with gloves to protect your hands but please don’t wear anything too fancy (including shoes) to avoid any upsetting mishaps.
Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes in advance of the start time to ensure you are present for the demonstration.
