Event description
Grow Hackney are hosting a night of improvised electronic music on Friday 29 April. Expect a club night like no other, where the musicians improvise to move their audience.
With elements of house, techno, afrobeat, jazz and world music; you won’t have seen music performed like this before. Come down early to toast the summer sunset at Grow’s canalside terrace, before getting down to the artists’ sonic offerings.
£6 from 9pm
Roscius
London-based French composer, performer and DIY producer Will Serfass aka Roscius combines live looping with percussion, sampling and lyric-less vocals to create unique and absorbing improvised soundscape experiments. He tours the world collecting handmade music instruments from West African drums to South American shakers, Asian gongs, Armenian tambourins, mini Japanese analog keyboards and most recently a full chromatic balafon made in Burkina Faso.
Michael Sebastian
Michael Sebastian improvises dance music. His music has the structure of electronic; the freedom of jazz, and the depth of world music. On the 29th Sebastian will debut his new album:
Kadako
Kadako is as melancholy as it is jubilant, inspired by memories of London warehouse raves and yoga studios. Fusing Christian Loffler’s meditative minimalism with Bicep’s anthemic bangers it is an album to journey to.
Kiskadee
kiskadee is the moniker of Jack Chown, a producer and composer based in London.
