Event description
Friends of Limehouse host an event called Clean Air Morning on Saturday 17 June at the Yurt Cafe in Limehouse.
The event is a mixture of exhibition, discussion and workshop. Visitors will be able to view an exhibition of local children’s artwork on air pollution, participate in a fun family quiz, have some play time and hear a talk on the effects of climate change on children from The Climate Child Protection and Safeguarding Team (CCPAST).
The Friends of Limehouse is a local non-profit focused on protecting and maintaining our local environment.
Friends of Limehouse stress that air pollution in Limehouse is one of the worst in London and is higher by 30% than in the rest of Tower Hamlets. It is over twice the legal limit due to the fumes from the Rotherhithe and Limehouse Link Tunnels and the lack of green space.
Through Clean Air Morning, the Friends of Limehouse aims to unite families that come from different backgrounds but face the same issues endangering children’s health and well-being. They aim to empower the residents with tools to solve environmental issues on an individual and collective level.
The aforementioned exhibition is otherwise open during the Yurt working hours between 9 am and 10 pm on 15-17 June and between 9 am and 5 pm on 18 June.
