Event description
This workshop is an invitation to slow down, wander and make; to learn how to take inspiration from the natural world and to embrace your own creativity through the wonderfully expressive medium of hand embroidery.
Professional textile designer Caroline Angiulo will guide you through the entire workshop so no previous experience is necessary. We’ll begin by learning the basics of hand embroidery through creating a sampler, or ’library of stitches’, that will give you an understanding of how to use several different stitches. You’ll then be encouraged to explore the beautiful gardens at Barge East, taking time to look and find inspiration from the flora and fauna. Taking photographs and making rough sketches, you’ll then translate your initial inspiration and ideas into your final unique embroidered art piece, with plenty of support available from Caroline throughout.
All materials will be provided including a selection of fabrics and threads to work with, embroidery hoops, needles, scissors and transfer materials.
