Dive into the compassionate lake of your heart, with a special extended kundalini yoga experience that follows dynamic movement and breathwork with somatic stretches and deep relaxation, facilitated by the soothing sounds of the gong and crystal singing bowls.
We will begin with a short meditation to allow us space to consider our intentions. The kriya (set of kundalini exercises) we will be practicing focuses on the heart centre, so you’ll be invited to drop the seat of your attention down into this space, quietening the mind to hear the heart speak.
You’ll then be led through an hour-long sequence of powerful kundalini postures and practices. Kundalini yoga combines asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra (chanting) and mudra (symbolic hand gestures), to raise energy and trigger an expansion of consciousness. This particular set of exercises facilitates the cultivation of energy at the heart chakra – an energy centre in the subtle body which in the Kundalini yoga tradition is considered to be our source of unconditional love and compassion; the bridge between the material and spiritual worlds.
Following our dynamic practice, we will take some time for slow, mindful movement and deep counter-stretches to prepare the body to rest and receive.
To close the space, you’ll be invited to lie down or find a comfortable posture of your choice, so that you can enjoy the restorative benefits of a twenty-minute sound-bath.
All are welcome – although kundalini yoga is often strong and energetic, you’re always encouraged to listen to your body and go at a pace that matches your energy.
Please note that some of the kundalini exercises in this particular set are unsuitable for pregnant people. If you’re pregnant and would like to attend, please get in touch as the kriya can be adjusted to accommodate you.
