Into the Storm at Genesis

Genesis will be screening ‘Into the Storm’ on Wednesday 28 October, an award-winning documentary about a troubled teenager from a crime-ridden barrio in Lima, Peru who struggled against the odds to realise his dream of becoming a professional surfer.

It will be followed by a Q&A with the director Adam Brown and producers.

Shot over five years, it follows teenager Jhonny Guerrero who flourishes under the wing of a former world champion. But barrio life proves hard to escape and he is caught up in a drive-by shooting.

With his father due for release from prison, he is torn between a desperate need for his father’s support, and the bad memories from his childhood.

Only by resolving this relationship can he finally realise his true potential and achieve his dreams.

This screening will will be followed by a Q&A with Adam Brown (Director), Dimitri Doganis (Producer), Mandy Chang (BBC Executive Producer), Hayley Reynolds (BBC Executive Producer).
