Event description
Don’t miss Maciek Hamela’s award-winning debut exploring the journeys of Ukrainian refugees to Poland.
Director Hamela has been evacuating Ukrainians since the first days of the Russian invasion. The film is based on the stories of the ordinary people he saved, recounted in the tight confines of his van, travelling thousands of kilometres along uncertain roads towards Poland.
Whether mourning the abandonment of their cow, looking at the beach or resorting to violence, we see the different ways the travellers cope with their trauma, focused, like their driver, on reaching a temporary place of safety.
This film is preceded by a screening of Artem Ivanenko‘s MURALS, a visual experience that uses cutting-edge 3D scanning to place viewers face to face with the war devastation in Ukraine. The not-for-profit art project follows captures of Banksy’s artwork left on the rubble of people’s homes, schools and infrastructure.
