Event description
Are you wanting to make your Christmas cards a little more special and personal this year? Come along to Barge East and make your own Christmas cards in this one-off lino printing workshop with artist Dan Whiteson
Lino printing is a wonderfully accessible and expressive process, in which you draw and then carve a design into a piece of lino. You then apply ink to your block and transfer the design onto your card by pressing and rolling.
You will have the opportunity to print your design multiple times, so you can create a set of six cards to send to friends and family.
Everything you need to create your printed cards will be provided, and there will be demonstrations and one-to-one guidance, so no previous experience is necessary. Whilst you are encouraged to bring your own creative ideas to your design, there will be plenty of support and inspiration from Dan on the night, so don’t worry if you can’t think of anything. Do bear in mind that you will only have about an hour and a half to draw up and carve your design, so it’s best to go for images rather than text.
Do also be aware that lino printing is super fun, but has the potential to get a bit messy. Please don’t wear anything too fancy (including shoes) to avoid any upsetting mishaps. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes in advance of the start time to ensure you are present for the demonstration.
