Event description
Trapped in Zone One has been awarded the Walking and Cycling London Grant for Move and Sketch.
Walking and Cycling Grants London is a programme funded by Transport for London in partnership with The London Marathon Charitable Trust and managed by the environmental regeneration charity Groundwork London. It offers funding to community groups such as residents’ associations, charities and youth groups for projects that encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to walk and cycle safely.
This programme is open to females aged 18 and over from diverse ethnic background living, working, and studying in East London. Sessions will improve fitness and activity levels with weekly 2-hour outdoor walking sessions within Tower Hamlets and Hackney, incorporating a creative activity of sketching.
Miranda Leedham, Head of Customer Marketing and Behaviour Change at TfL, said: “We’re really pleased that Trapped in Zone One can benefit from this grant and enable more East Londoners to walk and improve their fitness through the move and sketch programme. Creating opportunities to enable people of all ages and abilities to get active through walking is important to creating a healthier and more sustainable capital. We look forward to seeing the project develop and the impact it will have on helping women across East London to enjoy the benefits of being physically active”.
