Despite the pandemic, A Season of Bangla will return for it’s 18th ‘coming of age’ season, running from 12-21 November.
Audiences can relax at home and add a little flavour to the mix with Home Seasoning, Tower Hamlets Council’s online festival of British Bengali theatre.
The theme is ‘coming of age’ and this year the action will be digital, where pre-recorded plays and readings will be accompanied by live, interactive Q and A sessions with performers, writers and directors.
The festival showcases local writing and talent, focusing on issues relevant to the British-Bengali experience and features 10 plays from East London as well as West Bengal, India and Sylhet Bangladesh.
The 2020 performances look at topics as universal as family dynamics, estrangement, the strength of the human spirit and socially aware tales of class struggle and loss due to COVID-19.
