The Shining: Cult Classic Collective at Genesis Cinema

Genesis Cinema’s monthly Cult Classic Collective screening returns with Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

The Shining is a 1980 psychological horror film based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name, starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Scatman Crothers, and Danny Lloyd.

Although the film was the only one of Kubrick’s last nine films not to receive an academy Award, it swiftly developed into a cult classic as well as birthing the infamous phrase which is shouted by Nicholson: “Here’s Jonny!”

The screening will be introduced by Nick Walker of Rochester Kino, and will be followed by a salon discussion upstairs on the mezzanine where there will be a discussion about the film between first-time viewers and veterans of the cinema.
