Following its global success, ‘Song Queen: A Pidgin Opera’, presented by The EMCA, triumphantly returns to Wilton’s Music Hall. Renowned for its groundbreaking rich fusion of cultures, this revamped show promises an exhilarating musical journey.
Created by Nigerian-British composer Helen Epega (The Venus Bushfires), the opera debuted in 2015, marking the world’s first Pidgin English opera. Inspired by musical theatre, it seamlessly blends African storytelling, contemporary dance, and diverse languages with Western classical music.
Helen Epega leads an exceptional cast, bringing the mythical Menemeh tribe’s enchanting story to life. Executive Producer Baba-Jallah Epega expresses excitement, stating, “Song Queen: A Pidgin Opera is a true masterpiece.”
The revamped 95-minute musical extravaganza transports audiences through a realm of transformative power.
