Event description
On Thursday 17 August, Helen Hester and Nick Srnicek host a talk about their new book After Work: A History of the Home and the Fight for Free Time at the Whitechapel Gallery.
The book, which is being published in July 2023, is about how unpaid work has set foot into people’s homes. This is taking up an increasing amount of time and therefore a burden in our lives.
The duo will put forward ideas, visionaries and a pathway towards ‘real free time’.
Helen Hester is an Associate Professor of Media and Communication at the University of West London. Nick Srnicek is a lecturer in Digital Economy at Kings College London’s Department of Digital Humanities.
