For International Women’s month, Tower Hamlets Local History Library will show a film on Miriam Moses OBE (1886-1965), a true local inspiration – she was the first female mayor of the London borough of Stepney.
Screened via Zoom, the film follows Moses’s endeavours: her time as a nurse, her founding of the Brady Girl’s Club in 1925, an organisation that aided the children and families of impoverished East End Jews, and her work as part of the Jewish League for Women’s Suffrage.
