Event description
Seven dynamic artists with strong ties to the local area will unveil new exhibition Trellis; an exciting festival of art, organised by UCL.
Taking place in east London venues and online, Trellis celebrates UCL’s move to the east with a fascinating programme of painting, drawing, installation, book arts, film and photography, created by artists collaborating with cutting-edge UCL researchers and local community groups.
The artworks will explore some of our most urgent local issues; surveillance and asylum seeking in east London, plastic waste, the political concerns of the local deaf community, and the impact of the pandemic on autistic people living in our area. The resulting works are powerful, insightful, passionate and political, giving a voice to people whose stories are rarely heard.
The exhibition’s highlight is the ‘Mulberry Tree of Plenty’, exploring the materiality of Bethnal Green’s iconic mulberry trees.
How exciting!
