Celebrate the spirit of Hackney Carnival in the Canalside venues of Hackney Wick on Sunday 17 September, 11:00 am – 19:00 pm.
We welcome a band of Afro-Latin Caribbean All Stars to Grow.
They curate a special jam around Afro Carnival rhythms from Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic/Haiti with Calypso, Conga, Plena, Rara and Zouk improvisations. A unique opportunity to enjoy Latin Caribbean carnival music.
Featuring Williams Cumberbache, Omar Puente Cuba, Omar Rios Nicaragua, Nestor Pedral Venezuela, Adolfredo Pulido Venezuela, amongst others
There will be a talk and performance at 12pm by Venezuelan master drummer, Williams Cumberbache, that will be tracing the connection between traditional music from Latin America, The Caribbean & Africa, in particular, Congo.
We’ll have DJ Ramon Santero spinning the finest carnival rhythms throughout the day.
